Hello!

My name is Kimberly Craig and I run the aerial silks classes at Prairie Circus Arts.  I've been a professional circus artist for almost 20 years now and I started with aerial silks!

Interested in trying aerial silks, but still feel uncertain? Or did you book your first class and want to make sure you are prepared? Don't worry - here are some frequently asked questions that should help you get started!

FAQ

- Do I need to have prior experience or a certain fitness level to take an aerial silks class?

No, our classes are designed to be accessible to individuals of all fitness levels and ages. Our instructors will work with you to modify poses and sequences to suit your needs and abilities and you will gain the strength you need along the way.

- What should I wear to an aerial silks class?

Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Avoid baggy clothes, skirts/dresses and anything that may get caught in the equipment.  We suggest leggings with no zippers and a top that can be tucked in. Please wear a shirt that covers your armpits and leggings or tights that cover the back of your knees to prevent fabric burns. All jewelry must be removed before you begin for your protection and the protection of the silks. Socks can be worn during the warm-up, but they will need to be removed in order to work on the equipment.

- Can I drop in to a class or do I need to register in advance?

The beginner classes are all session based.  We allow approved drop-ins for the more advanced classes if there is room.  Email winnipegaerial@gmail.com to see if you can drop-in to the advanced classes.

- I just had my first class and now I feel like I can't lift my arms.

For most of us, our first aerial class is a level of physicality that we’re not used to experiencing, and you're using a bunch of muscle groups that may not be used to working so hard. That morning-after response is your body freaking out over it. But don’t worry! Take some anti-inflammatory meds (ibuprofin/advil), and drink lots of water. Treat yourself to a hot bath, and if you can, do some gentle mobility work and stretch out any parts that are sore.

- Do you offer Private lessons and/or Birthday Parties?

Yes - we offer both! Email us for availability for private lessons and small group parties, and we will get back to you with available dates and times.

- I want to pay with an e-Transfer.

Awesome!  First select "Pay in Person" when you are registering for the class.  Then you can send an e-Transfer to Winnipegaerial@gmail.com

- I've taken some aerial classes before, but it's been a while or I'm new to your studio.  What level should I register for?

Send us an email and let us know a little more info - where you took classes and for how long.  If you have any videos, those are super helpful for us.  We'll be able to find the right class for you!

- Do you have other aerial classes?

Prairie Circus Arts offers aerial hoop classes as well.  Occasionally we have mixed apparatus classes & workshops  that include trapeze,  sling and/or rope.  Email us if you are interested in something specific.
